YouTube Turbo Downloader

Getting started: your first download

From installing to a finished file in about a minute. This is the quick tour of where everything is.

1. Install and pin it

Add it from Mozilla Add-ons in Firefox, or install the file in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera or Vivaldi. Then pin the toolbar icon (the puzzle-piece button, then the pin) so it is always one click away. Reload any open YouTube tab with F5.

2. Open a video and press the button

On a video or a Short, a download button sits on the player. The toolbar icon opens the same menu. If you do not want the button on the player, you can hide it in the settings; the toolbar icon always stays.

3. Choose what to save

4. Watch the progress

Every download has its own row with the speed and percentage. You can pause, resume or stop it, and start another one at the same time. A short step at the end, such as building the file, can show as Muxing or Processing; that is normal. If it feels slow, read how to get the best speed.

5. Find your file

The file is saved straight to your computer by the browser, so it lands in your normal Downloads folder, with the title, channel, date and cover image already inside. If you want the browser to ask where to save each file, that is a setting of the browser itself (look for Downloads in its settings).

6. Make it yours

The settings page has a few switches: the player button, autoplay, pausing the video during a download, adding video details to files and Secure verification.

Questions

Where does it save my files?

Into your browser's normal downloads folder. Nothing is uploaded to a website.

The button is not on the video. What now?

Reload the YouTube tab with F5. If it is still missing, check that the extension is switched on and that Download button is on in the settings. The toolbar icon works either way.
